Richard has been writing creatively for over 50 years; his first novella, "Disaster at Havendale," won the Wildwood Publishing Fiction Prize in 2015 over numerous international entries. DaH gained #1 status in its category on Amazon a total of five different times over a two-year span.

Additional works include his monthly newspaper columns in a volume entitled, "Slice of Home, Slice of Life" in 2017, as well as the long-awaited sequel to DaH, "Storm's End," released in February 2019. "After Midnight," a first volume compilation of short stories, was released on February 14, 2023. Other upcoming projects are his three-book magnum opus called "LAIR," the novel "The Risen," and a second set of short stories entitled "Dark Things." He has also been working with a Hollywood insider on the screenplays for "Disaster at Havendale" and "Storm's End" for the past 1 1/2 years.

The author has drawn much of his inspiration from the stories of Irwin Allen in the epic disaster movie craze of the 1970's. "The Towering Inferno", "The Poseidon Adventure", and "Earthquake" were just a few that met his criteria for success: "Fast-paced, full of action and suspense, with interesting characters." He also cites Stephen King and Peter Straub as major influences in his writings as well.

He and his wife Jeannie live in southwestern Oregon along the beautiful Pacific Coast. They enjoy traveling around the country seeing their children and grandchildren, and, of course, visiting their special Florida beaches as often as possible.
